Nagaland: 139 arrive by flight in Dimapur

An Air India flight carrying 121 returnees and an infant landed in Dimapur Airport from Kolkata on June 3.


According to officials, among the returnees, 5 persons were Imphal-bound while 42 were for Kohima and the remaining 74 were Dimapur bound passengers.


Nagaland Agriculture Production Commissioner Y Kikheto Sema, who is also in-charge of Dimapur for COVID-19 was at the airport, accompanied by Food and Civil Supplies Department Secretary Honje Konyak. EAC Chumukedima Thejavizo Nakhro was also present, along with medical team and security personnel.


9 Nagaland State Transport buses were on site for transporting the returnees.


The flight was delayed by an hour and landed around 4:40pm. After completion of necessary procedures, Kohima and Manipur-bound passengers were sent to Kohima by bus. On reaching Kohima, arrangements will be made for the Manipur bound returnees to be sent there, officials said.


The remaining passengers were taken to Agri Expo site.


Meanwhile, another flight from Guwahati landed in Dimapur airport on June 3 at 11:00 am carrying 17 returnees. According to an official, 3 passengers in that flight were Kohima-bound and were sent to the state capital along with the returnees from Kolkata in the evening.
Earlier, 29 persons were in the outbound flight to Guwahati while the return flight to Kolkata in the evening had 114 persons and 3 infants on board, according to the Dimapur Airport Director, Mughavi Zhimo.


An additional flight is expected to arrive at 7:35 am on June 4 carrying 12 returnees. The flight will depart from Kolkata and make a stop in Dimapur airport before proceeding to Dibrugarh.
