Quarantine-break in Kohima

There was a security breach at a quarantine centre in Kohima on May 31. One person, who was kept in the K Badze Quarantine Centre (QC), escaped from the facility.  According to a letter addressed to the Chief Medical Officer, Kohima, by the incharge of the QC, one person, who was identified as Rajendra Prasad Mahala was found missing from the facility at around 1:30 pm Sunday. He reportedly broke open the window grille to make his escape.  The letter added that the runaway was admitted at the QC on May 24. He was going to Manipur from Uttar Pradesh.  There was no official explanation as to how a person from UP headed to Manipur landed up at a quarantine centre in Nagaland.  The Kohima police confirmed receiving information of the escape, while neither the CMO nor the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima responded to calls.
