Fairview gets a new bridge

Press release from N.C. Department of Transportation:

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will begin a bridge replacement project on Church Road over Garren Creek in Fairview on  Monday, June 10.

R.E. Burns & Sons Co., Inc. of Statesville will replace the 46-year-old bridge with a 27-foot wide bridge.

Crews have established a marked detour that directs drivers on a 2.7-mile route using Village Road, Garren Creek Road, Whitaker Road and  Blue Ridge Development Road.

This bridge is one of four that will be replaced as part of a $3 million contract that should conclude in early October.

State officials remind motorists to obey detour signs, watch for construction information, stay alert and obey posted speed limits, especially through work zones.
