EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State gymnastics head coach Mike Rowe announced that Isabella Barbacci has joined the incoming freshmen class on the Spartans' 2021 roster.

Barbacci is a native of Downingtown, Pa. She joins Baleigh Garcia (Boca Raton, Fla.), Naomi German (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), Delanie Harkness (Leslie, Mich.), Sydney Hayashi (Westerville, Ohio) and Giana Kalefe (Corona, Calif.) in the Spartans' freshmen class for the 2021 season.

Rowe on Barbacci: "Izzy comes to us with the capabilities of being a contender on all four events. Her strengths lie primarily on beam and floor, but she has already made great strides on vault and bars, working on the details and consistency that will assist in getting her into those line-ups. We are thrilled to have Izzy joining the Spartans this season!"

Prior to MSU: Downingtown West High School … Trained at AJS Pancott Gymnastics, coached by Casey Rohraugh and Steve Pancott … Five-year level 10 competitor … A four-time J.O. National Championship qualifier (2016-19) ... Placed 25th in the all-around at the 2019 J.O. Nationals ... Was a top-four finisher in four events at the 2019 Region 7 Level 10 Regionals, including third on both beam and floor, while placing fourth on vault and in the all-around ... Was second on beam at the 2019 Pennsylvania Level 10 State Championships, along with third on floor, fifth in the all-around and sixth on vault ... Was a 2018 J.O Nationals qualifier ... Won the 2018 Region 7 Level 10 Regionals beam title, along with finishing sixth in the all-around, seventh on floor and 11th on bars ... Placed third on beam and 13th in the all-around at the 2017 J.O. Nationals ... Finished second on both beam and floor, along with fifth in the all-around at the 2017 Region 7 Level 10 Regionals ... Won the 2017 Maryland Level 10 State Championship on floor, as well as finishing third in the all-around, fourth on beam and sixth on vault ... Finished 13th on vault, along with 17th on both floor and in the all-around at the 2016 J.O. Nationals ... Placed eighth in the all-around at the 2016 Region 7 Level 10 Regionals, highlighted by finishing third on floor to go with eighth on the other three apparatuses.
