Akshay Kumar, who recently resumed shoot for Anurag Singh’s Hindi directorial debut, Kesari, in Mumbai, will now be heading to Jaipur with leading lady Parineeti Chopra. The actor and his onscreen wife are set to shoot a romantic number in the Pink City. The fi lm will wrap up with this fi nal song shoot.

A source from the sets says, “Akshay has been shooting at the helipad at Filmcity, where a set was recreated after the one in Wai was gutted in a fire in April 10 days before wrap-up. A lavishly-mounted romantic number is still left to be shot and after considering various cities, the team has finalised Jaipur for it. It will be shot over four days next week and will be choreographed by Vijay Ganguly.”

The film’s story is set in 1897, and according to the source, the makers were looking for a city with an oldworld vibe.

Kesari is based on the Battle of Saragarhi of 1897 with Akshay playing Havildar Ishar Singh and narrates the encounter between 21 Sikh soldiers of the British Indian Army and a 10,000-strong troop of Afghani tribesmen in the Saragarhi outpost of the North-West Frontier Province on September 12 that year. Though vastly outnumbered, the regiment is said to have fought to its death, with Ishar Singh leading the regiment. Sikh military personnel commemorate the battle every year on September 12 as Saragarhi Day.

Karan Johar who is producing the film with Akshay and Sunir Khetrapal had described Saragarhi as “the bravest battle ever fought.”
