The World Comes To M.V.: An introduction to the many foreign exchange students studying at MVHS (November 14, 2018)

This is part of an ongoing series introducing the group of foreign exchange students in Moapa Valley who are attending MVHS this school year. These students are in Moapa Valley to find adventure, experience a different culture and create lifelong memories.

Lara Bingisser

Lara Bingisser comes from Bern, Switzerland where she lives with her mother, Jaqueline and brother Kaio. She enjoys spending time with her father, Marcel and older brother Gui.

Lara said her family was excited when she approached them about doing an exchange year in America. Her mother was especially happy about her decision because she had wanted to participate in an exchange program when she was young, but never got the opportunity. Lara’s father was also pleased with her decision since he had participated in a brief exchange in the United Kingdom. It was a positive experience for him and he looked forward to his daughter being able to have the same kind of positive experience.

Lara hopes to improve her English while enjoying American culture. She wants to experience high school from a different perspective and has enjoyed being in Moapa Valley. She likes meeting new people.
She is staying with Dave and Jeaneen Belcher during her stay in Moapa Valley.
After finishing high school, she hopes to take a gap-year and travel before studying to become a teacher or veterinarian.

In Switzerland, Lara competed in lacrosse and enjoyed skateboarding. She loves music and hanging out with friends. She has discovered off-roading and enjoys four-wheeling. She has competed in tennis and hopes to play flag football and run track at Moapa Valley High School.
Lara speaks German, English, Swiss German, French, and Portuguese.

Emma Eichorn

Emma Eichorn comes to Moapa Valley from Vienna, Austria. She lives there with her mother, Barbara, her father, Robert, and older sister, Anna.

Her parents were excited about her decision to spend an exchange year in America. They saw it as a great opportunity for her to improve her English and learn a new culture.
Emma wanted to come to America to make new friends and live with an American family. While in Moapa Valley, Emma lives with Jim and Cassandra Peay and their five children.

At MVHS, Emma played volleyball and hopes to enjoy some other sports at the school. She enjoys horseback riding, going to the movies, hanging out with friends, and listening to music.
After high school, Emma aspires to become a lawyer.
Emma speaks German, English, and Latin.
