Moapa Valley Justice Court Report (May 22, 2019)

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 with Judge Gregor Mills presiding. All cases listed in the order called.

Victor Kay Leavitt- Follow up on Charges: Lewd and Lascivious Conduct. Defendant had been ordered to stay away from alleged victim, Jamie Hudec. Hudec had requested that the item be brought again before the court because she claimed Defendant had violated this order.
Hudec stated that Defendant had entered a local establishmente where she was doing business. She said that she had confronted him in the situation. But she claimed that he did not immediately leave the building at that point. Rather, he tried for a time to continue his business there.
The Defendant maintained that he had not seen Hudec upon entering the establishment. He said that once he knew she was there, he had left immediately.
The Judge emphasized to the Defendant that he must stay alert and not end up in the same vicinity of Hudec. He said if any more such allegations were brought forward, the matter would go to a full contempt of court hearing and jail time could be on the line.

Jarom Chalfant- Charges: Communicate Bomb Threat. Defendant appeared in custody. Public defender recused himself on the matter because he was already representing Defendant on other pending charges which could cause a conflict. A contract attorney was appointed to represent the Defendant. Case continued to 5/22/2019. Reduced bail of $1000 was retained and Defendant was kept in custody.

Mike Hemingway- Charges: Domestic Battery; Assault with Deadly Weapon. Defendant appeared in custody. Assault charge was amended to Disorderly Conduct. Defendant plead No Contest to this amended charge and the Domestic Battery charge.
Sentenced to two six month jail sentences held in abeyance to stay out of trouble for one year. Also a $750 fine and required weekly Domestic Violence counseling for six months which should include a substance abuse component.
Defendant released from custody. Protective order would remain in place forbidding Defendant from any contact with alleged victims in the case.
Matter continued to 7/3/2019 for status check.

Mike Martin- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery; Driving with Suspended License; Driving without Registration; New charge: Assault. Defendant appeared in custody. Had been sentenced on previous charges to two six month consecutive sentences held in abeyance to stay out of trouble and complete conditions. Defendant had not completed the conditions and had not shown up for court dates, sending case into a warrant.
In the meantime, Defendant had received a new charge of Assault in a recent incident at Grant Bowler Elementary School which had resulted in a lockdown of the school.
Judge ruled to impose the two six month sentences of jail time for the old charges and keep the Defendant in custody.
Proceedings on the new charge were continued to 5/22/2019.

Jeremy Comporoni- Status Check on Charges: Petit Larceny. Defendant not present in court. No restitution payments had been made. Warrant issued.

Michael Pace- Charges: Petit Larceny; Trespassing. Defendant plead to both charges. Received 10 hours of community service for each charge. Status check set for 6/12/2019.

Cassondra Crabtree- Status check on Charges: Petit Larceny; Obstruct Police Officer. Defendant not present in court. Charges had been in warrant for previous non-appearance. Defendant had called in to the court clerk to place item on the calendar. Warrant stands.
