A familiar local business is taking a step up and has moved its quarters to the main street district in Overton. The Plus Ten Clothing Company has relocated to 156 N. Moapa Valley Blvd., the small southwest-style building that was formerly home to Valley Leavitt Insurance.

Previously the little boutique clothing store was located in a smaller space further up the road in the same building as Fit Physical Therapy. But when the larger retail space on main street came available this month, store owner Taylor Woodford jumped at it.
“We have been stuck in a tiny little space for the past two years now,” Woodford said.

“When I saw this open up, I thought, ‘I’ll never get another shot on main street.’ So we took it.”

The new store is welcoming, spacious and illuminated with natural light from a large picture window. The space is full of unique women’s clothing, accessories and more.

Women will find exciting brand names in stock. The Overton store is actually one of the few in the state of Nevada that carries Grace in L.A. brand western-style bluejeans for women. It also carries Montana West purses, shoes and accessories and Prestige Jewelry, to name just a few.

Woodford said that her business plan is built on a strong boutique ideal. “We want our inventory to be unique,” she said. “So we order new stuff every week and once we order it, it’s done. We don’t usually order the same items again.”

Woodford is known for her fun and quirky Facebook Live shows that take place every Thursday night. Each week in the show, Woodford highlights what is new in stock at the store. Sometimes to mix things up, she invites other local business owners in for the show, or guests who are experts in some area of fashion.

The show has a broad following that stretches well beyond the Moapa Valley. In fact Plus Ten fills orders from all over the United States. Only 40 percent of the store’s sales are from local customers, she said. The other 60 percent are online sales.

“People see it from all over the place,” Woodford said. “We ship regularly to as far as Florida, New York, Connecticut and even Hawaii!”

Taylor is adamant about clearing a common misconception that the store’s name, Plus Ten Clothing, refers to only plus sizes. “We are not a plus size-only shop,” she emphasized. “We carry a variety of sizes from petite to larger body types. I am very clear that fashion is for everyone, for every size and shape.”

Woodford loves to do personal shopping consultations with clients.
“I know that there are a lot of self-conscious women out there. So one of my favorite things to do is to provide a private shopping experience,” Woodford said. “That can be done by appointment with me and I’ve had a lot of fun with different people doing that.”

Woodford said that customer service and individualized care is paramount to her business. “I want my customers to come in and find the thing that they want so they can walk out feeling confident and satisfied,” she said. “If we have done that, it’s a good day.”

Plus Ten Clothing is open Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am until noon. Other shopping times are available by calling Woodford for an appointment at 702-280-6953.
