Local Contestants Prepare For Cinderella Pageant

By VICTORIA PRAY

Moapa Valley Progress

Amatrissa Solis

Next week is the start of the Cinderella Scholarship Program and Pageant. It also marks the end of Moapa Valley resident Amarissa Solis’ time as being a part of the 2018-2019 state royalty.

If you ask her, one of the best days of Solis’s life happened on June 23, 2018. That was the day she was crowned Cinderella Nevada Overall Miss.

Solis said that it has been one of the greatest honors to represent the Miss division and the town of Moapa Valley this year. She has traveled to all parts of Nevada meeting girls of various ages and making new lifelong friends.

Over the year she said she has been fascinated to learn exciting things about the state’s history. “We live in a beautiful, history-filled state,” Solis said. “We would stop quite often on our road trips to little places like Goldfield and learn the history of that mining town.” Solis said.

This year was filled with many wonderful memories for Solis. For example, attending events like parades, Special Olympics pageants and most importantly, meeting all the girls that have competed in preliminaries throughout the year.

Alyssa Leavitt

One of the the things Solis loves about the CInderella program is that it allows girls to be their unique self as well as to meet new friends, gain self confidence, be able to be comfortable with talking to people and do things they once thought to be hard.

Solis is sad that her year of royalty is about to end. But she looks forward to the future as she will prepare to compete in the Teen division. She hopes to represent Moapa Valley once again very soon.

Alyssa Leavitt and Brielle Williams will also be representing Moapa Valley as they participate in the many events and parties. They will both be competing in the Mini Miss division in events such as a three minute interview with the judges, talent competition, casual wear modeling and party wear modeling all in the preliminary round.

Leavitt is ready to compete this year and excited to see her “Cindy friends” and to make new ones during the week. She loves to perform her talent on stage and she can’t wait to wow the judges with her cheer routine.
“I can’t wait to model my pretty dresses on stage,” she said.

Brielle Williams

Williams is also excited because she loves being on stage and sharing her talent of singing for everyone to hear. She loves the program because it makes her strong and brave.

“Cinderella gives me the tools I need to be able to answer interview questions, perform on stage in front of big crowds and the confidence to get to know new friends,” she said.

Brielle has also been hard at work practicing and preparing for state but has had fun in the process.
