Moapa Valley Justice Court Report

Criminal court was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 with Judge Gregor Mills presiding. All cases listed in the order called.

Jose Ramon Rios Jr.- Charges: 1 count Felony Battery on Protected Person, 2 counts Felony Resist Public Officer with use of Firearm, 2 counts Gross Misdemeanor Battery on Protected Person. Defendant appeared in custody. Public defender was appointed to represent. Set for court appearance on 7/17/2019.

Michael Martin- Charges: 2 counts Gross Misdemeanor Threaten Public School Employee. Defendant appeared in custody currently serving two consecutive six-month jail sentences on separate unrelated charges.
Defendant pled to amended charges of 1 count Assault and 1 count Battery. Received a six month sentence consecutive to current jail time, to be held in abeyance for one year to stay out of trouble, stay off all Clark County School District property and the completion of impulse control counseling.
Defendant to stay in custody to serve time on previous charges.

Jeremy Comparoni- Status Check on Charges: Gross Misdemeanor Destruction of Personal Property, Misdemeanor Petit Larceny. Defendant appeared in custody. Had not paid restitution as requirement for plea settlement and not appeared in court. An arrest warrant had been issued whereby he had since been taken into custody. Judge imposed full six month jail sentence which had been held in abeyance. Case was taken off calendar.

Bradley Webster- Status Check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant appeared in custody. Had failed to appear in court for late May status check and warrant had been issued. Defendant said his wife had been in hospice and passed away around that time which is why he did not appear in court. Also had spent some time in outpatient substance abuse program. Asked to be released from custody. Judge released defendant on his own recognizance with charge to complete all requirements. Status check set for 8/28/2019.

Mike Hemingway- Charges: Domestic Battery; Assault with Deadly Weapon. Defendant said he was prepared to pay the fine immediately. But no counseling or drug assessment had been completed.
Judge expressed concerns that the Defendant had arrived at the courtroom with the alleged victim in the case. He had been ordered by the court to have no contact with the person. Defendant claimed that he had requested a Las Vegas court to lift the order. Judge said that he had clearly given implicit instructions on it; if the order was dismissed, it should have come to him.
The Judge reluctantly dismissed the no contact order at alleged victim’s request. Gave Defendant a charge to immediately start required counseling.
Matter was set for status check on 8/28/2019.

Chase Faris- Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. Defendant had done a part of community service requirement, but had not yet begun Domestic Violence counseling. Defendant said that he had entered a drug rehab facility for 30 days, after entering his plea to get help. After that his finances had been limited and he was not able to pay for counseling.
Judge said that his entering the drug rehab program had saved him from going to jail for not starting domestic violence counseling requirement. He emphasized that Defendant must get counseling started immediately. Status check set for 8/28/2019.

Kiara Lally- Status check on charges: Being under influence of controlled substance, DUI, Driving w/o valid license. Defendant failed to appear in court. No contact had been made. Bench warrant issued.

Michael Pace- Charges: Petit Larceny; Trespassing. Defendant had not begun his counseling requirement. Judge found Defendant in contempt of court and added another 25 days of jail time to his suspended sentence. Judge warned that if more was not done at next court date, full sentence would be imposed. Status check set for 8/28/2019.

Gary Connelly- Status check on Charges: Resisting Police Officer. Defendant working through fulfilling requirements Status check set for 9/11/2019.

Trevor Adamson- Status check on Charges: Domestic Battery. All requirements met. Case closed.

Lawrence Whitney- Status check on Charges: Battery. Defendant has completed his three year agreement of remaining outside of the jurisdiction. Case closed.
