The Maverik convenience store in Overton reopened on Friday, July 19 after being closed since July 8th for major remodel.
“They gutted the building,” said store manager Holly Kammeyer. “And they put in new graphics and new floors.”

The store now has new classic trademark Maverik murals across the walls of the interior as well as a bit more variety in the products they offer, specifically in snacks and bagged items. The changes only took 10 days from start to finish.

“I think we’re just doing really good,” Kammeyer said. ”I talked to the team about it. The town is just awesome and we are making really good sales. People are coming in and coming back. They like what we have to offer and now we can offer more.”

Kammeyer said that the store was reconfigured according to local sales. “Now we can offer more of what people like and take away the products that have been sitting on the shelves for forever that no one ever buys.”

For Kammeyer, the remodel is more than just a new look for the store. It is a change in overall image.
“People go to other Maveriks that are bigger and then come to our local one and it isn’t the same: we don’t have all the same decor,” Kammeyer said. “This just shows that Maverik is investing in our town, and they listen to what we need.”

Kammeyer said that Overton is a great town in which to manage a convenience store. “We always say even the worst person in this town would still have your back if you needed it,” she said. “We don’t have to worry about security, our customers do that for us. They are so wonderful.”

Of course, not everything has changed inside of the store. There is still the same small-town feel to the convenience store.
“I like that we stayed a little country store,” Kammeyer said. “ They kept the same country store layout, just made it a little nicer. It’s a small town store with big town capability.”

Lisa Stevens, a Maverik employee, said that she is really enjoying the new change.
“I love everything about it. I have been here for five years and it is a big change for me. It feels like I got a new job,” she said.
