It was good to have the full home team back and ready to play.

The Moapa Valley High School Volleyball team looked invigorated as they played the Pahranagat Valley Panthers on the home court last week.

The Pirates began by serving well and carried out their aggressive style of play. They were hitting the ball regularly into the open areas of the court and racking up points.

The team was complete with the leadership of Abbie Evans and Sierra Bunker returning to the court after both of the seniors had been injured the week before.

The Panthers fought back and tried to gain momentum. But they were unsuccessful as the Pirates displayed their skills and won the first set 25-18.

With confidence and momentum, the Pirates were then ready for the second set.
The regular starting team consisted of Madalynn Fredrick, Andi Hillstead, Kyla Bradshaw, Abbie Evans, Sierra Bunker and Jessie Frei along with the other members of the team wore down the Pahranagat team. Freshman Sydney Reese had a couple of well placed kills as she played on the front line. The Pirates won the second set with a score of 25-10.

But the Panthers were not willing to give up in the third set without a fight. They played hard but the Pirates were determined to end the match quickly. They continued to execute well organized team volleyball to defeat Pahranagat by a score of 25-15 in the third set.

The Pirates traveled to Las Vegas on Thursday to play the SkyPoint Somerset. There the Pirates served up 15 aces. The team benefited from strong front line hitting from Abbie Evans and Sydney Reese. In the end the Pirates were victorious in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-18, and 25-8.

The Pirates hit the road this week to compete in the Durango Classic tournament in Las Vegas. The tournament brings together some of the best teams in the nation.
