Google Chrome May Block Your Website this December

Written by on October 10, 2019

Will Google Chrome be blocking your website?

Starting in December, Google Chrome will begin blocking insecure and mixed content websites. Insecure websites and mixed content sites can leave you and your clients vulnerable to web hackers and identity theft without detection. Katrina Dargusch from Target Digital Solutions says that insecure sites and content are wormholes for hackers to track and steal information from customers and businesses.

85% of consumers will abandon a purchase or website if the connection is insecure. Google Chrome will block insecure and mixed content sites – sites that may be secure, but have insecure content like pictures, videos, and plug-ins – in an effort to protect Chrome users. Visitors will be unable to find your business on Chrome if it has insecure elements.

A cyberattack occurs every 43 seconds, and 46% of those attacks are directed at small businesses. Dagush says that business owners in Cody and the entire Bighorn Basin should check the security of their websites, for their safety, their customers safety, and to ensure their website can still be found on search engines.
