VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WJLA) — New details are emerging following last week’s deadly mass shooting in Virginia Beach.
The shooter, DeWayne Craddock, appeared to target supervisors in his department in an attack that left 12 people dead.

According to CNN, Craddock was determined to get to an area where senior engineers and managers were stationed. A survivor of the attack and a city council member says the shooter deliberately walked down a hallway past a few employees. Authorities say they are still working to determine a clear motive.
Craddock, a longtime engineer in the city’s Department of Public Utilities, submitted a letter of resignation just hours earlier.

He wrote that he was giving two weeks' notice "due to personal reasons," and that "it has been a pleasure to serve the city."
Four police officers encountered Craddock in the building's second floor about seven to 10 minutes after the first 911 call. Eventually, he was killed after a long shootout.
