Two Mississippi men face multiple charges after a chase that began in Mississippi ended across state lines in Washington County, Alabama.

Around midnight on Saturday, October 19, the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Alabama got a call from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office in Mississippi saying their deputies and game wardens were in a vehicle pursuit involving a silver Chevrolet 1500 truck crossing into Washington County on Cowell Road in the Copeland community.

Washington County deputies and Alabama game wardens, Millry Police and Chatom Police responded.

An Alabama game warden found the suspects and tried to intercept them, but the driver of the truck, identified as 20-year-old Jacob Paul Davis of Waynesboro, Mississippi, tried to strike the game warden with the truck and continued to flee from law enforcement east on Cow Hill Road, according to WCSO.

As they continued on Cow Hill Road, WCSO said a passenger in the truck, identified as 21-year-old Caleb Strickland of Buckatunna, Mississippi, opened the passenger side door holding a rifle and fired two shots at the Alabama game warden who was following them.

As a responding Chatom police officer arrived in the area to assist, WCSO said Davis tried to strike the Chatom officer with his vehicle.

Due to the extremely dangerous and reckless behavior of the suspects, their vehicle was forced off the roadway in the 1100 block of Copeland/Buckatunna Road. Davis was pulled from the vehicle and arrested.

Strickland was able to flee from the truck into a wooded area as deputies were attempting to remove the other suspects from the vehicle.

Davis was charged with Attempted Murder of a Police Officer, Reckless Endangerment and Attempting to Elude Law Enforcement and remains in the Washington County Jail under a $35,000 bond.

Strickland has active warrants for the same charges, as well as multiple charges in Mississippi. If you know where he is, WCSO says to call 911 immediately.
