Police investigating shooting in downtown Seattle

Police are investigating after a man was shot in downtown Seattle on Tuesday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene around 3:45 p.m. after reports of a shooting in the 1600 block of 4th Avenue. They found him in a stairwell inside an entrance to Westlake Center, where they performed CPR.

The shooting victim, reportedly in critical condition, was taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Police say the suspect fled the scene. Officers are searching the area and investigating what led up to the shooting.

The Homicide Unit and Gang Unit responded and are taking over the investigation.
