The woeful Worcester Blades put in their best effort of the season, building their only two-goal lead in 25 games they’ve played so far, but the Canadiennes rallied with three goals in under two minutes late in the second period and won 4-3 Sunday to complete a weekend sweep in Worcester, Mass.

The Blades took advantage of a Canadiennes team that was missing star players to a Canada-U.S. rivalry series, including top scorers Marie-Philip Poulin and Ann-Sophie Bettez and goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer. Megan Myers put Worcester on the board at 9:40 in the first period, Kaitlin Spurling made it 2-0 at 2:37 of the second. But Katia Clément-Heydra assisted on Sarah Lefort’s goal at 17:19 and scored two of her own at 17:37 and 19:00 to put Montreal in the lead. Lauriane Rougeau and Morgan Turner added goals for Montreal and Worcester respectively in the third.

Catherine Daoust, Melanie Desrochers and Clément-Heydra also scored for Montreal. Spurling had the only goal for Worcester, which is now 0-25 on the season.
