The NDRF and SDRF got an input from noted geologist Dr Bijoy Krishna Chetia, who indicated four pin-points through Google Earth analysis, which marked as possible tools of the search operation.

The deceased are identified as Tankeswar Kalita (55) and his young daughter Pallavi (16).

Some local people, who noticed the incident on Thursday, had saved deceased Kalita’s wife Sarumai Kalita (40) with their daughter Babita Kalita (22) from drowning in water.

The incident took place when the i-10 Hyundai car went off the highway and plunged into Geluwa river.

Kalita and his family members were on the way to Silapathar in the district to attend a wedding party.

Police said that Tankeswar Kalita (55) was a havildar of 13th APPBN, posted at Lilabari in Lakhimpur district.

He was travelling in the ominous vehicle along with his wife and two daughters when the accident took place at Geluwa between Dhemaji and Silapathar towns.

Locals say frequent road accidents take place at Geluwa curved point along the highway.

At least seven people have lost their lives there during the last couple of years.
