Assam has registered 249 new Covid19 cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 5,255.

Confirming the news at his 11.55 pm Covid19 update on Saturday, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa sarma informed that with the new cases, the number of active Covid19 cases in Assam stands at 2,041.

Earlier, a total of 3,202 Covid19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery from the disease.

The disease has claimed the lives of a total of 9 persons in Assam while 3 cases have migrated from the state.

“Alert ~ 249 new #COVID19+ cases reported in Assam today. Total cases 5255. Recovered 3202.
Active cases 2041. Deaths 09,” health minister Sarma said.

In an another tweet the health minister said continuing the targeted surveillance in Assam, the Covid19 testing numbers reached 273,047 across various medical college and hospitals on Saturday.

“This is approximately 15,000 additional tests over the previous day,” he tweeted.

Asking the people of the state to take care of themselves, Sarma tweeted:  “As the Government keeps up the momentum of testing, you take care of yourselves.”

On Saturday, a total of 136 Covid19 patients were discharged from the hospitals in Assam after they tested negative.

Sharing the news in the evening on Saturday, health minister Sarma said:  “Glad to share that 136 more patients have been discharged today from various civil, dist & model hospitals in Assam, after being tested negative.”

Continuing our targeted surveillance, the testing numbers reached 273,047 across various medical college & hospitals on June 20. This is approximately 15,000 additional tests over the previous day.
