Sensation prevails in Kalaigaon area of Assam’s Udalguri district after the recovery of the body of a lady teacher, who went missing on July 6.

The lady teacher had gone missing after she went out for a morning walk at Kalaigaon town on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Nayantara Sahariah, a resident of Kalaigaon College Road.

As per reports, the lady teacher’s husband started searching for her as she did not return home after morning walk.

But after failing to trace the whereabouts of his wife, the teacher’s husband filed a missing report at Kalaigaon police station on Monday evening.

The police launched a search operation and suspecting possibility of drowning in a nearby pond, they conducted a search in the waters of the pond with the help of the disaster management personnel on Tuesday but to no avail.

Later on Tuesday, the lady teacher’s body was mysteriously found in a classroom of a private school at about 100 metres from her residence.

The police officials while refuting to give any statement said “investigations are on”.

However, eyewitnesses said the face of the women was found in distorted condition.

It is suspected that chemicals were splashed over her face.

Sources confirmed that there were frequent altercations between the husband the deceased.

The deceased, who was serving as a teacher at Balipara Krishak Mukti High School in Udalguri, has left behind two sons.
