An inferno broke out at 3:00 am in the wee hours of Sunday at the first floor of the annex of Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) Building in Meghalaya’s capital of Shillong.
The fire sparked from a short circuit in the first floor had emitted thick smoke to the second and third floors housing Swastik hotel causing a panic among the hotel guests, some of whom had to jump off the first and second floors.
All together 11 persons including women have been shifted to civil hospital in Shillong.

Pooja Das, aged around 27 years and daughter of one Deepu Das, a resident of Udalguri in Assam;
Narayan Saha, aged around 65 years and son of late D Saha, a resident of Agartala in Tripura;
Ratna Saha, aged around 40 years and wife of Madhusudan Saha, a resident of North Badharghat in Tripura;
Paromita Saha, aged around 20 years and daughter of Madhusudan Saha, a resident of North Badharghat in Tripura;
Arghyajit Saha, aged around 13 years and son of Madhusudan Saha, another resident of North Badharghat in Tripura;
Mukut Choudhuary, aged around 48 years and son of late Mahamad Choudhuary, a resident of Kamrup, Assam;
Kanishka Sam, aged around 20 years and son of Kaushik Sam, a resident of 498 Dam Dam Park in Kolkata;
Madhusudan Saha, aged around 48 years and son of late Sunil Chandra Saha, a resident of North Badarghat in Tripura;
Nilakshya Pal, aged around 10 years and son of Dulal Chandra Pal, a resident of Chanman in Udaipur of Gomuti in Tripura;
Dulal Chandra Pal, aged around 42 years and son of Rabindra Chandra Pal, a resident of Chanman in Udaipur of Gomuti in Tripura;
And Uma Rai Saha Pal, aged around 30 years and wife of Dulal Chandra Pal, a resident of Chanman in Udaipur of Gomuti in Tripura.
