Two more persons, including a three-year-old child, have tested positive for novel coronavirus in Mizoram in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s tally to 147, government sources said.

According to a statement issued by state information and public relation department, 1,140 samples were tested at Zoram Medical College (ZMC) and Lunglei Civil hospital on Thursday, following which a 3-year old girl and 23-year-old woman, both from Aizawl, were found to be infected with Covid-19.

The two patients have been under institutional quarantine since their arrival to the state from Maharashtra and were asymptomatic, the statement said.

They were admitted to ZMC on Friday.

Results of 59 samples were awaited, the statement said.

The statement also said that at least 17 Coivid-19 infected patients were discharged from ZMC and a Covid-19 Care Centre (CCC) in Lawngtlai on Friday.

The discharged patients included 8 males and 9 females and they were advised for one week self monitoring at their homes, it said.

8 of them belonged to Lawngtlai district, 6 to Aizawl district, 2 to Saitual district and 1 belonged to Serchhip district, the statement said.

There are 100 active cases in Mizoram while 47 people have recovered so far.

The state has not reported any death due to coronavirus.

According to a health official, a total of 11,672 samples have been tested till Thursday, of which 11,426 were tested at ZMC, 188 at Lunglei civil hospital and 58 samples were tested outside the state
