Wisconsin Democrats Push for Paid Family, Medical Leave

Wisconsin Democrats are again pushing for statewide paid family and medical leave insurance for workers.

Sen. Janis Ringhand (D-Evansville) and Rep. Sondy Pope (D-Cross Plains) introduced legislation Oct. 22 to create a paid family and medical leave insurance program that would give workers 12 weeks of time off for a new child, a serious health condition, or to care for a family member with a serious health condition. The program would be funded through employee payroll contributions into a state-run trust fund.
