EPA Urged to Force Pennsylvania to Clean Up Chesapeake Bay (1)

The nonprofit Chesapeake Bay Foundation plans to formally sue the EPA in a couple of weeks unless the agency acts to force Pennsylvania to adhere to the legally binding cleanup plan for the bay.

The Environmental Protection Agency was served a notice of intent to sue in late May, but that deadline passed in July with little sign of agency action, Chesapeake Bay Foundation President Will Baker told reporters Thursday.

The group has waited this long to give EPA a chance to respond and avoid litigation, “which they have shown no interest in doing,” Baker said.
