District of Columbia Releases 2020 Unemployment Tax Rates

The District of Columbia’s unemployment tax rates are to be unchanged for 2020, a spokesman for the D.C. Department of Employment Services said Dec. 10.

Effective Jan. 1, 2020, unemployment tax rates for experienced employers are to be determined with Table 5, the spokesman told Bloomberg Tax in an email. Tax rates are to range from 1.6% to 4.2% for positive-rated employers and from 5.8% to 7% for negative-rated employers.

The tax rate for new employers is to be 2.7% in 2020, unchanged from 2019.
