Countries across the world are gearing up to ease the lockdown restrictions, even as the positive coronavirus infections are close to touching the 7 million mark globally. In India alone, there are 2 lakh 27 thousand COVID-19 cases including 6,348 fatalities. However, in order to revive the economy, the country is slowly opening again as the places of worships, shopping malls, salons and other hospitality services are all set to open on June 8 as per a recent directive by the Government of India.

Fresh guidelines for shopping malls, restaurants and places of worship

The centre has laid down fresh guidelines for shopping malls and restaurants which are allowed to open after a nationwide lockdown. It will be the first phase of the “Unlock 1 plan” which will slowly ease the restrictions that were imposed during the nationwide lockdown.

The guidelines which will come to effect from June 8 i.e. Monday are needed to contain the spread of novel coronavirus as it continues to wreak havoc across the globe. Some of these guidelines include no touching of idols or holy books at religious places, complete disinfection of luggage before being sent to the luggage room of the hotels and face masks or face covers to be worn at all times.

Here are some of the most important guidelines of unlock 1.0

1. Thermal screenings will be mandatory at the entrance and visitors will only be allowed if they wear face masks or face covers at all times inside the malls.

2. Social distancing norm to be followed very strictly and physical distancing of at least 6 feet should be followed where ever feasible.

3. Respiratory etiquettes to be strictly followed.

4. Spitting shall be strictly prohibited.

5.Only asymptomatic visitors will be allowed to enter the shopping mall.

6.Posters on preventive measures about COVID-19 to be displayed prominently.

7. Entry to shopping malls should be allowed in a staggered manner.

8. To ensure social distancing norms, adequate manpower to be deployed by mall management.

9. All employees who are at higher risk including older people, pregnant women and those who have underlying medical conditions, to take extra precautions.

10.The staff for home deliveries shall be screened thermally by the shopping mall authorities before allowing home deliveries.

11. Number of people in the elevators shall be restricted and use of escalators with one person on alternate steps should be encouraged.

12.Takeaways to be encouraged, instead of dine-in.

13. In the food-courts, adequate crowd and queue management is to be ensured to follow social distancing norms.

14. Also, in the food courts, not more than 50 per cent of seating capacity should be permitted.

15. Disposable menus are advised to be used.

16. Tables must be sanitized every time a customer leaves.

17. Touching of statues, idols and holy books not to be allowed at religious places.

18. To prevent the spread of coronavirus, choir or singing groups in places of worships not to be allowed.

19. No physical offerings like prasad, distribution or sprinkling of holy water, etc.to be allowed inside the religious place.

20. People to strictly avoid physical contact while greeting each other.
