A long-standing Waitrose shopper has been left disappointed after paying £2.99 for a product - only to discover it's covered in Aldi branding.
Joe from Leighton Buzzard picked up a pack of mini pancakes called 'cocktail blinis' at his local Waitrose store back in February - only to return home to find he may have been ripped off.
"I've been a Waitrose customer with my family all of my life," Joe told Mirror Money.
"It's extremely disappointing to find you've paid the expensive Waitrose price for a much cheaper product."
Joe purchased the pack of cocktail blinis in February as part of his weekly food shop.
He paid £2.99 at the checkout - but after discovering the German supermarket's branding at the back, he realised the same item was on sale for just 99p at Aldi.
Joe said he raised a complaint with Waitrose - but that his grievance was "ignored".
The customer now says he's quit Waitrose for life and has decided to carry out his weekly food shop at Aldi instead.
"I have been shopping at Aldi instead. Why should I bother paying expensive prices if I can get the same product much cheaper?
"The item I purchased tasted exactly the same as the Aldi version - so it makes sense to just pay the lower price."
The customer, who works for the NHS, said it's not the first time he's seen items with Aldi branding in his local store, either.
"I've noticed this before. A friend that works at Waitrose says this happens all the time and that the managers say to just throw it away and not to report it," he said.
"I’m aware it’s happened on the Mediterranean roasting vegetables where an Aldi product has been used in Waitrose stores," he said.

Back in November, Mirror Money covered a similar story after a couple spotted stickers from German discount brand Aldi on a packet of Mediterranean vegetables from Waitrose.
The pair, who asked to remain anonymous, discovered the Aldi sticker on food that arrived from Waitrose as part of their weekly Ocado shop.
"I was really disappointed. I use Waitrose and Ocado for good reasons - reputation and home delivery, and I pay for the privilege," the couple explained.
"No disrespect to Aldi or their customers but if I wanted their products I'd go to one of their stores."
Aldi's sells Ready to Roast Winter Roast/Mediterranean Roast vegetables for £1.29, and its version is the same weight as the £2 "Vibrant and Colourful" Waitrose product.
When the couple complained to Ocado they were told: "I am sorry to hear that the Waitrose Mediterranean Roast Vegetables received were packed for Aldi.
The practice of sharing supplier between supermarket own brands is remarkably common in the industry - with one company frequently making products for several different brands.
That doesn't mean the products are necessarily the same, though, with suppliers sometimes reserving better-quality produce for more expensive ranges, despite both sets being produced in the same factory.
Mirror Money put Joe's images to both Waitrose and Aldi.
A Waitrose spokesman told us: "We are sorry for the mix up and we are investigating how this happened with our supplier. Although, like all retailers, we sometimes share suppliers, we have our own specifications for each product."
Aldi refused to comment.
