It will be welcome news for fans who were left "heartbroken" to find newly reopened restaurants weren't offering its popular breakfast menu.

McDonald's began reopening its restaurants for deliveries and drive-thrus on May 20 after temporarily closing all 1,350 restaurants on March 23 due to coronavirus lockdown.

Restaurants aren't allowed to reopen until at least July 4, although they are allowed to offer takeaway services. Many brands, including McDonald's, initially closed while they worked out how to offer takeaways safely.

But due to social distancing measures in newly reopened branches meaning fewer staff working, the chain has offered a reduced menu and shorter opening hours of 11am to 10pm.

McDonald's couldn't tell us when exactly the trial will take place, which restaurants will be involved or whether a full breakfast menu will be on the cards, saying it's too early to say.

It comes as McDonald's plans to relaunch its "McDelivery" service at 500 restaurants from next week. Until now, it's been using Just Eat and Uber Eats to fulfil home delivery orders.
