Protesters scream "terrorist" at John McDonnell as fight erupts during speech

There were shouts of "terrorist" and "liar" from the crowd as John McDonnell gave his acceptance speech in Hayes and Harlington. The police were forced to get involved.

Fight breaks out at vote count and people shout 'terrorist'

Protesters screamed "terrorist" at John McDonnell as it was announced he had won his seat in Hayes and Harlington the early hours of this morning.

He was heckled by people in the crowd shouting "liar" as McDonnell gave his acceptance speech.

Police were called in as demonstrators yelled “IRA” at the veteran MP who is set to be ousted as a senior Labour figure following the party's disastrous election showing.

The Shadow Chancellor said: "It is quite clear that there are fears also now for our democracy and the rise of the extreme right.

"But I say now we will organise and we will ensure this type of democracy will reign, and the democratic wishes of our people will be respected, and this sort of extreme right wing violence will not be tolerated within our society."

A clearly upset Mr McDonnell said: “Tonight's result are clearly disappointing for the Labour Party.
