The Scottish Government has released the new coronavirus figures, showing nine new positive cases in the Lothians, bringing the total for the region to 2,769.

There are 143 people across the Lothians in hospital, which is no change from yesterday, but five people have been taken into intensive care in the last 24 hours.

Across Scotland, positive cases have reached 15,603, an increase of 19 from yesterday, and tragically, another six patients have died, bringing the death toll to 2,415.

The Scottish Government statistics are of those who have officially tested positive for the virus, with the National Records of Scotland releasing numbers of those who have coronavirus mentioned on the death certificate.

The National Records of Scotland put the Scottish death toll at just under 4,000.

Nicola Sturgeon spoke at a press conference on Friday urging people to continue to follow the guidelines saying specifically that going into other people’s homes at this time will dramatically increase the risk of the virus spreading.
