Mumbai surpasses China in coronavirus deaths and cases
Mumbai coronavirus cases: According to the BMC data, K-East (Andheri East), G-north (Dadar, Mahim and Dharavi) and P-north (Malad) wards have more than 5,000 cases.

Mumbai: Maharashtra’s capital Mumbai on Tuesday overtook China in the number of coronavirus positive cases and deaths. Notably, COVID-19 was first reported in China in late 2019.
As per the official data, Mumbai presently has 85,724 coronavirus positive cases and 4,938 deaths. In China, the total number of fatalities is 4,634 and number of positive cases stands at 83,565.
Also, China records single-digit new cases every day, less than those reported in Mumbai’s Dharavi area daily. However, this is to be noted that the state and civic governments’ various strict measures have ensured that Asia's largest slum is no more a COVID-19 hotspot.
News agency IANS reported Mumbai has been recording more than 1,100 new positive cases daily since July 1 as compared to China.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Mumbai's recovery rate is 67 per cent. The overall growth rate of cases in Maharashtra's capital is 1.60 per cent.
Notably, with 211,987 cases, Maharashtra had on Monday outstripped Turkey (205,758 cases). Maharashtra had on June 4 whizzed past Germany (198,064) and South Africa (205,721). The total number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra stands at 211,987, while the death toll is 9,026.
In another development, Mumbai today opened four new temporary COVID-19 treatment facilities, including one inside the Mahalaxmi horseracing venue.
The other three are at Dahisar, Mulund and Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC).
The four facilities have the capacity of 3,520 beds.
