Drink driver arrested after crashing into wall while more than triple the legal limit

His passenger was also arrested for abusing members of the public

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after crashing into a wall and then running away.

Police were called to reports of a collision in Beta Street, just outside Bolton town centre, earlier today.

Upon arriving at the scene officers saw a dark blue Volvo which had crashed into the outside wall of social housing complex Rainford House.

According to police, the driver and passengers ran away from the incident but the driver was caught nearby and arrested.

The front seat passenger, who was allegedly abusing local residents, was also arrested for a public order offence.

Once at the police station, the driver provided a breath sample of 119mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath - the drink drive limit is 35mg/100ml.

A spokesman for the traffic division of Greater Manchester Police tweeted: "ME11 responded to a RTC Beta Street Bolton.
