KANPUR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the Bhoomi Pujan on Wednesday, wore an N-95 mask named ‘Swasa’ developed by IIT Kanpur.
The team who developed Swasa was elated when they learnt that the PM wore Swasa mask during the entire Bhumi Pujan ceremony in Ayodhya. The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC), IIT Kanpur on its facebook account shared images of PM Modi wearing the Swasa mask.

“Our team is delighted to have spotted Hon’ble @PMOIndia @narendramodi wearing Swasa N-95 mask during #AyodhyaBhoomipujan.
Swasa is produced by our portfolio startups Espin Nanotech IIT Kanpur. It is a great testimony to the quality & potential of Indian startups & innovations”, SIIC wrote on their facebook page.
Swasa mask has been developed by IIT Kanpur-incubated startup E-Spin Nanotech Private Limited. Sandip Patil, its director, told TOI, “Swasa N-95 mask has been jointly developed by IIT Kanpur and our startup. It is a moment of pride for all of us that Swasa was worn by our PM.”
