The Congress, on the other hand, would gain eight seats if the Lok Sabha polls were held today.

In terms of the alliances, the MOTN survey predicts a loss of 50 seats for the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) owing to the departure of the Shiv Sena and the widespread civil unrest.

The alliance, however, will still have a stable majority with 303 seats.

If the general elections were held today, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) would gain 15 parliamentary constituencies.

50 seats NDA is likely to lose owing to the 4 per cent decline in its vote share compared to the Lok Sabha results in May 2019. As for the UPA, it would gain 15 seats owing to its two per cent increase in the vote share.

What should also give Team Modi pause is the finding that were opposition parties such as the Shiv Sena, the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and the Left to come together to form a new mahagathbandhan under the United Progressive Alliance (UPA), it would throw the political field wide open and the NDA's majority would be severely tested.
