Even after three decades in showbiz, Neena Gupta gained spotlight after her hit film, ‘Badhaai Ho’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra recently. In a recent interview with a news portal, Neena opened up about achieving little success in her career and her retirement plans.


Spilling the beans on the same, Neena Gupta reportedly said that she is not Amitabh Bachchan and there are no roles written for women per se in Bollywood. According to her, people noticed her after ‘Badhaai Ho’ and right now she is known as a good character actor. She also confessed that she has not got that kind of fame and there are very few roles for women. She added that she cannot be the heroine although men of her age can still do main-leads.
When asked if she has any plans of retiring, she reportedly added that she has always had ambitions. According to her, she never felt like getting married, settling at home and looking after kids and family. She revealed that she always wanted to work and do something for herself and that her parents too always told her to be passionate.


On the work front, she was last seen in ‘Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan’. The movie starred Ayushmann Khurrana and Jitendra Kumar in the lead roles. It also featured her ‘Badhaai Ho’ co-star Gajraj Rao in a key role. The movie received a positive response from the audience and the critics alike.
