Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man was shot dead in the street in Birmingham.
The attack occurred on Church Road, Erdington, at about midday, West Midlands Police said.
The 28-year-old victim's family has been informed.
The man was in cardiac arrest when paramedics found him, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.
A spokesman added: "Ambulance staff performed CPR and administered advanced life support on the man.
"However, sadly, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
Erdington local councillor and resident Robert Alden said it was a "wonderful community and this kind of event is rare".
He added: "We will be working with our excellent local police in coming days and weeks, as we currently do, to ensure that these kind of incidents remain rare and Erdington remains a safe place to live and work."
