Forty-nine new cases of the coronavirus disease COVID-19 were reported in Nevada on Sunday, May 17, according to the state's newest figures.

The new cases bring the statewide case count to 6,906, including 350 deaths, per the Nevada data dashboard.

Testing took a massive jump over the weekend, with about 11,300 tests performed from Friday through Sunday, May 15-17.

More than 81,800 people have been tested, with nearly 75,000 receiving negative results. Saturday's test count of 6,500 is the single-largest number of daily new tests performed in Nevada so far.

The state's cumulative test positivity rate was recorded at 8.6% through Sunday.

That figure is up slightly from the 8.5% of the previous day, May 16, but down compared to a week ago, May 10, when there was a positivity rate of 10.2% with nearly 73,000 tests and 6,152 cases total. There were 14 straight days of declines in the test positivity rate until Sunday.

The data dashboard includes a disclaimer that counts might be artificially low on Mondays due to limited weekend reporting.

In Clark County, at least 5,463 cases have been reported through May 17, including 296 deaths, according to the Southern Nevada Health District.

That case count is up by 97, from the 5,366 reported through the previous day. No new deaths were reported.

So far, public health officials estimate 4,055 people in Clark County have recovered from the disease, or about 74.2% of reported cases. That would leave 1,057 people with active cases of COVID-19, or about 20.3% of reported cases.

SNHD released a new trend report on Monday showing the seven-day moving averages for cases, hospitalizations, deaths and test positivity rates.
