An ax attack happened in the middle of a quiet northwest neighborhood.

Exclusive video shows a woman carrying an ax in one hand and a chain in the other.

Police say the woman swung the ax and hit her boyfriend, Nicholas Escamilla, in the face.

Home surveillance video shows a chilling scene outside a northwest neighborhood near Buffalo and Alta.

In the video, the woman is carrying an ax and a chain. The man seems to be injured and stumbles as the woman walks up to a neighbor's door. You can see the woman has blood on her face as she looks up at the surveillance camera.

Sean Devins' roommate let the couple inside.

"I walked in and I see this dude sitting with no shirt on. He had a gash on his head and some lady next to him," says Devins.

Police say they received a call of an ax attack shortly after 10 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers say the woman hit her boyfriend in the face with the ax at least once.

It's not clear what the confrontation was about, but officers say they arrested 42-year-old Nicholas Escamilla for the assault. Devins says the injured man looked stunned.

"He had a giant slash on his face and you know he was bleeding everywhere. He had no shoes on, walking around in this crazy heat," says Devins.

Police arrested the woman, but she later let go. Shana Murphy saw the couple walking down the street yelling at each other after the attack as the woman banged on doors. She'll never forget how the man appeared.

"He was just bleeding and then they walked to the neighbor's house," said Murphy.

The man was taken to UMC hospital, but he is now booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Devins says while in his house the woman was calm as the man bled on his floor.

"The guy was pretty beat up. It seemed like he needed help," said Devins.
