LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Former Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt will chair President Donald Trump's re-election team in the state, the campaign has announced.
Laxalt joins state Senate Minority Leader James Settlemeyer and Assembly Minority Leady Robin Titus as chairs of the campaign's leadership team in Nevada.
"Honored to be named co-chair of the Trump Campaign," Laxalt wrote to Twitter on Wednesday.
Laxalt served one term as Nevada's top law enforcement officer. He ran for governor in 2018, losing the contest to Steve Sisolak.
After the election, he announced he would become a partner at Washington-based law firm Cooper & Kirk.
His gubernatorial campaign also came up in a federal indictment released earlier this month. The indictment revealed a group of men allegedly donated $10,000 in foreign money to Laxalt's campaign, along with that of another political candidate, in the hopes of gaining influence and getting a commercial marijuana retail license.
"[Igor Fruman] came to a Las Vegas fundraiser," Andy Matthews, a spokesman for Adam Laxalt, said about one of the men indicted. "Adam doesn't know the man."
