2:30 P.M. UPDATE | Viewer photos and video show snow and ice on roads in the Summerlin area. Henderson viewers are reporting snowfall as well.

ORIGINAL | A dose of white flurries on Saturday evening, primarily in the Summerlin area, might have been just a sign of more to come later today and tonight.

A National Weather Service winter weather advisory for much of the region begins at 2 p.m. and runs to 4 a.m. Monday.

While the advisory is for elevations 4,000 feet and above, snow is possible in most locations.

The NWS cautions that show is expected above 4,000 feet with possible accumulations of 2 to 4 inches at elevations between 4,000 and 6,000 feet and 4 to 7 inches above 6,000 feet.

In addition, winds could gust from 20 to 30 mph.

Areas affected in Southern Nevada include the Spring Mountains, Sheep Range and Red Rock Canyon. Roads in those areas could become icy and slippery.

Periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Travel could be hazardous on Interstate 15 between Primm and Baker, Calif., and on Interstate 40 east of Kingman, Ariz. Roads in the Spring Mountains will be difficult to travel such as Kyle

Canyon, Lee Canyon and Highway 160 near Mountain Springs Summit.

Motorists are urged to expect snow covered roads and limited visibility, and are urged to use caution.

Road conditions are available by calling 511.

Up to 12 inches is expected in the North Rim area of the Grand Canyon until 11 p.m. Monday.
