Homicide detectives investigate shooting in east Las Vegas valley

UPDATE, June 8 | The Clark County Coroner's office has identified the man killed as 48-year-old Herbert Van Harris of Las Vegas.

Van Harris died from multiple gunshot wounds, and his death has been officially ruled a homicide.

ORIGINAL | Authorities are investigating a shooting reported Friday morning in the east Las Vegas valley.

The shooting was reported just before 4:10 a.m. in the 3000 block of E. Desert Inn Road, near McLeod Drive, according to Lt. Craig Humel with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation, Humel said.

Officers located a man on arrival suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives discovered that an argument had occurred between the victim and a black male adult.

The argument escalated, leading to the shooting.

The suspect is described as a black male adult, 5'10" to 6'2" tall and was last seen wearing a black hoody and black pants.
