LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — There is still a feel and look of winter around Mt. Charleston, with snow and dark clouds still pressing against the slopes.
The Lee Canyon Ski and Snowboard Resort officially closed on April 14, two weeks later than expected.
There is still enough snow to make it awfully tempting for some to give it a shot.
"It's been a while since I've seen this much snow this late in the season on the summits and the higher elevations," said Jim Seely, the marketing director at Lee Canyon.

Seely says, by comparison, the season that just ended was significantly better than the previous season, and he considers it one of the resort's best ever. "It was definitely a great year," said Seely. "It's been a while since we've gone into mid-April, several years, maybe even more than ten years or so we've gone that long."
The sight of snow has also attracted a number of visitors to the higher elevations, including Taryn Sumner, who just finished her first year at UNLV.
"It's beautiful. It's nice to come out here" she said.
For others, like Cheri Perry, seeing snow in Southern Nevada came as a shock. She said she hadn't seen snow since she moved from Indiana to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and was expecting it to be much warmer." We brought no winter clothes," she said. "We brought all summertime clothes, but it's beautiful. I prefer this to the strip."
"So here we are in late May," added Jim Seely. "We are coming up on Memorial Day Weekend, and the snow hasn't melted yet."
But, as we all know around Las Vegas, "summer is coming", so it's only a matter of time.
