A physical altercation in an Oklahoma City assisted living center in August resulted in the death of an 84-year-old woman, but prosecutors have decided not to file a charge against the woman who pushed her.

Wynema Jean Patterson fell and broke her hip during an Aug. 1 altercation with another resident at Villagio Senior Living, 14300 N Portland Ave. Patterson was hospitalized and died Oct. 18. The state medical examiner's office ruled her death as a homicide because of the hip injury.

Police did not release details about the altercation, which also involved an 82-year-old woman. The police did report that no charges were filed.

Eric Lindsey, of Villagio Senior Living, said witnesses to the altercation have been interviewed by police detectives.

“An event did take place and one of the residents, (Patterson) was pushed over and she broke her hip," he said. "She had recovered for several weeks at another rehabilitation center. We are sad to hear that she did pass away."

Lindsey said the 82-year-old woman involved in the altercation has since moved out. Lindsey said he could not comment further.

“It was an altercation between two residents and that is really all I can say,” Lindsey said.
