PANHELLENIC PARTY

Reception: Members of the Greater Oklahoma City Alumnae Panhellenic Association were hostesses for a reception and medallion presentation. They honored the 2019 Panhellenic Women of the Year prior to the Panhellenic Luncheon which featured the 18 women. The party was at the Central Oklahoma Home Builders Association.

ENTERTAINING THE POET

Dinner: Jeanne Hoffman Smith hosted a dinner in her home prior to poet Alberto Rios speaking at Oklahoma City University’s 21st annual Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry Series.

Menu: The seated dinner featured pasta with chicken, a chopped salad and lemon squares. The centerpiece featured green grapes and green mums.

Taking the stage: Committee members came for dinner and to hear the honoree give a brief reading of poems before his talk that night.

PHI BETA KAPPA

Banquet: The Oklahoma City Association of Phi Beta Kappa had an annual banquet at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club and Berrien Moore III was the featured speaker.

Best of the best: Ralph Thompson presented Marilyn Matteson Edens with the Phi Beta Kappa of the Year award.

Scholarship winners: This year’s recipients were Katherine C. Schoeffler, Casady School; Brittany G. Shrader, The Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics; and Kenneth R. Halstied III, Dove Science Academy.

DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN

The loyalty factor: The Last Frontier Council, Boy Scouts of America, had a dinner at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel and Dick Sias won the 2019 E.C. Joullian Distinguished Citizen Award for a lifetime of leadership and generosity to the community.

A word from the CEO: "Dick Sias holds the respect of this city, and we wanted to honor him for his contributions to make Oklahoma City a better community, " Scout Executive and CEO Jeff Woolsey said. "He has impacted this city and state for generations to come.

TRAVEL WITH THE ARTIST

Opening reception: The Howell Gallery honored Nick Berry at a party for his one man show “Travel With the Artist.” He painted scenes from Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Canada, Croatia, Slovenia and Italy.
