Sunny skies ahead Sunday, rain moves east of Oklahoma City

Sunny skies are ahead Sunday in Oklahoma City as storms that brought rainfall Saturday have moved east, the National Weather Service reported.

More than 2 inches of rain was reported in parts of western Oklahoma Saturday where wildfire danger had been high recently with dry foliage. Near Rush Springs in Grady County Saturday, 2.57 inches fell at the Acme station, Oklahoma Mesonet reported.

A storm system with heavy rainfall and gusty winds moved through Oklahoma City Saturday. High wind gusts caused damage to an overpass at SW 34 and Interstate 35 in Moore, police reported. The Oklahoma Mesonet website showed 1.83 inches of rain in east Oklahoma City Saturday.

The Oklahoma City forecast follows:

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Northwest wind 6 to 8 mph.

Sunday night: Clear, with a low around 48. South wind 6 to 11 mph.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 77. South, southwest wind 14 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 59. South wind 15 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with a high near 75. South wind 15 to 18 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy with a low around 64.

Wednesday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 81.
