Mayor: 2 Teens Killed When Stolen Car Slams Into Home In Newark
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – Two teenagers were killed when a car slammed into a house early Friday morning in Newark.
It happened shortly before 5:30 a.m. near Bergen Street and Madison Avenue.

Authorities said the car, which had been stolen, was speeding when it clipped a traffic light and crashed into a parked minivan, sending both vehicles into the house. No one inside the home was hurt.
The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Quadre Robinson, age 17 and Quayim Battle, age 19.
"It's unfortunately, it's a tragic situation. Despite whatever was going on, the car being stolen or not, these people have parents," he said. "We feel sorry for their parents and the tragedy of them losing their children this morning."
He also said a gun was found inside the car, which police say was stolen from Elizabeth.
CBS2's Natalie Duddridge spoke with a man who said he lives inside the house with his five children.
"I opened the window and I see a car on top of my van and I can see a fireball under my car, like the car was on fire," he said. "So at that point I - not panicked - but I just jumped into action. I just started to grab my babies out the house to get them together."
City engineers are working to determine whether the home is safe to return to.
The Essex County prosecutor's office is also investigating the crash.
