LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's basketball team looks to get back on the win column next Monday, Dec. 17, when it plays hosts to Northern Colorado in its opening game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the televised contest.
 
Adam Young (@youngpbp) will have the call alongside former Neil McCarthy assistant Rus Bradburd (@RusBradburd) on the broadcast between the Aggies and Bears.

KEEPIN' AN EYE ON THE BEARS
Northern Colorado is currently 6-1 on the year with its lone loss coming at the hands of Texas Tech 93-62, who is currently No. 11 in the latest Associated Press Poll and was just receiving votes when the two played. The Bears
 
NM State leads the all-time series 4-3 and currently owns a three-game win-streak over the Bears – two of which have been at home. Northern Colorado have won its last three games heading into its game against San Diego on Saturday, Dec. 15, as part of the Las Vegas Classic.
 
Through seven games, Jordan Davis leads a list of five players on the double-digit scoring list with 23.6 points per game and 6.0 boards per game. Trent Harris is second on the team in scoring with a 14.7 scoring average and 2.6 rebounds per game with a .561 shooting clip. Bodie Hume checks in with a 12.6 scoring average and 5.4 rebounding average to go with his team-leading 10 blocks and .867 free-throw percentage. Jonah Radebaugh isn't far off from Hume, averaging 12.4 points and 4.6 rebounds while Jalen Sanders rounds out the list of double-digit scorers averaging 10.0 points a 5.0 boards.
 
The Bears have outrebounded opponents by a margin of 14.4 and have dished out 14.6 assists per game so far. As a team, UNC has shot 51-percent from the field to go with a .434 shooting clip from 3-point range.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The New Mexico State men's basketball team didn't shy away from the limelight last Saturday when it took on then-No. 2 Kansas at the Sprint Center, going pound-for-pound and toe-to-toe with the college basketball blueblood in its 63-60 loss.
 
The Aggies started off slow, but countered Kansas with a couple runs of their own to take a narrow 28-26 lead into the break. The lead for New Mexico State got as high as seven on three different occasions in the second-half thanks to the hot-shooting hand of JoJo Zamora and Ivan Aurrecoechea down in the paint.
 
Unfortunately, a 14-7 run by KU's Dedric Lawson willed the Jayhawks past NM State in the final 6:40 minutes of play put an end to the Aggies' upset bid. Zamora finished the game with a team-high 15 points for NM State thanks to a 4-of-7 night from 3-point land. Aurrecoechea added 14 points of his own on 7-of-10 shooting, including a 4-of-4 effort in the second-half while dishing out a career-high six assists. Johnny McCants also notched a career-high 12 points on 6-of-8 shooting with six boards in the loss.

The Aggies will have a quick turnaround after Monday night's game as they entertain CSUN in the Pan American Center on Wednesday, Dec. 19, to wrap up the campus portion of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
New Mexico State will head straight to Las Vegas, Nev., after hosting CSUN on Thursday as it prepares for the second portion of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic. The Aggies are scheduled to first take on Drake at 5:30 p.m. (MT)/4:30 p.m. local at Orleans Arena on FS2. NM State will then take on either Washington State or San Diego on Sunday, Dec. 23, at either 5:30 p.m. (MT) or 8 p.m. (MT) depending on Saturday's results.
