New Orleans’s location of the rapidly-expanding Oprah Winfrey-backed healthy restaurant chain opens today, Wednesday, September 25.

True Food Kitchen is located on the retail floor of The Julia, a new mixed-use development in the Warehouse District. The health-conscious restaurant chain has 28 locations in 12 states offering a menu of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. While Mediterranean and Asian flavors anchor many items, the focus of the chain is on ingredients rather than a certain cuisine. True Food says it uses healthy, seasonal, “sustainable,” and organic ingredients that are in line with the highly debated anti-inflammatory diet.

True Food Kitchen is the brainchild of Dr. Andrew Weil, a former frequent guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Winfrey is an investor and sits on the chain’s board of directors. The New Orleans location brings together the restaurant’s original owners Centerbridge Partners and Audubon Capital Partners, the Boston-based private equity real estate firm behind The Julia development.

True Food Kitchen (801 St. Charles Avenue) serves lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and until 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. It will open at 10 a.m. for weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The opening menu is below.
