Lavish full-floor Pierre Hotel apartment wants $65M

The apartment is one of the most expensive homes for sale in NYC right now

An apartment spanning the entire 29th floor of the Pierre Hotel has hit the market—and made it to our list of NYC most expensive homes for sale—with an asking price of $65 million.

The co-op apartment, which the listing describes as “a diamond in the sky,” has four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a large gallery space in its entrance, separate living and dining areas, a decorative fireplace, and a ton of closet space. The apartment offers views of Central Park.

Its interiors are a bit over-the-top, but elegant nonetheless: There are crystal light fixtures, a crystal chandelier in the library, a Venetian plaster “dusted with mother of pearl accents,” the listing says, and antique Murano glass fixtures.

Charlene Haroche, widow of travel mogul and co-founder of Liberty Travel Gilbert Haroche, currently owns the apartment, which she bought back in 2015 for $22.9 million, The Real Deal reported. The listing says that “under current ownership,” all rooms were enlarged and repurposed—which may be the reason for the price hike.

The sumptuous Pierre Hotel, designed by Schultze & Weaver and built in 1929, sits in the Upper East Side historic district, at 795 Fifth Avenue, steps from Central Park.

Maintenance charges amount to $24,000/month. Lisa Simonsen of Douglas Elliman has the listing.
