Shutdown leads to hellish lines at Newark Airport

Newark Liberty International Airport had some of the longest lines in the country last week as more TSA agents called out while the government shutdown continued.

The Transportation Security Administration said wait times to get through security lines stretched to 27 minutes Wednesday. There were longer waits at only the Atlanta (39 minutes) and Seattle (29 minutes) hubs.

TSA screeners are among the roughly 460,000 federal employees who are working but not getting paid.

Extra screeners were sent to help ease the lines at Newark.
